The 70year-old was a lifelong member of Fianna Fail.

Noel Treacy is being remembered as a hard-working and dedicated politician.

The Ballinasloe native passed away this morning at the age of 70.

The former Fianna Fail TD was elected initially in 1982 and held his seat until he retired prior to the 2011 General Election.

He served as a Junior Minister under three Taoisigh and was also well-known for his involvement in GAA - working as Galway County board chairman for many years.
