It's hoped that local businesses in the Shannonside Northern Sound region will be able to get advanced information and guidance on working with new technologies in the manufacturing and industrial sector from a new hub based in Sligo.
Dromod resident Mary Kearney has been recently appointed as the new centre Director for the Digital Futures Manufacturing Centre in the north-west.
The centre, established in conjunction with I.T Sligo as well as Leitrim and Sligo County Councils, will be a centre of excellence to prepare companies in the region to embrace new technologies such as automation and Artificial Intelligence.
It will cater for small and large firms, who may need assistance dealing with 'Industry 4.0'.
