The recent government decision to halt the eviction ban at the end of this month has led to controversy with many claims that it will force vulnerable families into homelessness

125 eviction notices were  issued in the three months of 2022 leading up to the eviction ban across the Shannonside region.

56 eviction notices were issued in Roscommon to the RTB, 42 were issued in Longford and 27 notices were in Leitrim during the third quarter of 2022.

A report published by the Residential Tenancy Board published on Friday revealed that 4,741 eviction notices were served across the country in the three months leading up to the eviction ban last year.

Leitrim had one of the lowest number of eviction notices issued in the country at 27.

These figures comes following the announcement by the government last week that the eviction ban that is currently in place will end of April 1st.

Dublin had the most eviction notices issued at 1,839, followed by 500 in Cork and 286 in Galway.

Out of the 4,741 households that have been served notices, 60 percent of them relate to the landlord intending to sell the property.

16.7 percent are for the landlord or a family member to live in and 15.6 percent are due to breach of tenant obligations. 7.7 percent are due to other reasons.
