Men accused of local cocaine possession due back in court

The men did not get bail last week.

Two men charged with possession of a large quantity of cocaine which is believed to have been flown into County Longford last week are due back in court today.

Tim Gilchrist of Mavis Bank, Newrath, Waterford, and 41 year-old pilot Michal Lucsak, with an address at Primrose Avenue, Jigginstown in Naas, Co. Kildare were arrested after Gardai stopped two cars near Lough Owel last Thursday evening.

120 kilos of Cocaine worth an estimated 8.4m were subsequently seized.

Mr Gilchrist is accused of possessing cocaine for sale or supply, and Mr Luczak is charged with the same offences.

Both men were remanded in custody when they appeared at a special sitting if Mullingar District Curty last Sunday and both men will appear again at Mullingar District Court via video link today.
