Significant progress has been made on the extension of two well known primary schools in Longford Town.
Work is set to begin in the coming weeks on a four classroom extension for St Emer's National School on the Ballinalee Road.
Elsewhere in the town, St Michael's NS on St Mel's Road will open tenders for their extension plans shortly.

The school has been approved for the construction of three new mainstream classrooms and 3 SET rooms.
Local TD Joe Flaherty described the updates on the projects as very welcome and stated that it is vital to continue to invest in local education infrastructure
