European elections candidate James Reynolds, from Co Longford, says he will never run for the National Party again.
He co-founded the party in 2016, and ran for it in the Midlands Northwest constituency.
But early indications are he is not in contention, with the count still ongoing.

He has told Eoghan Murphy, at the count centre in Castlebar today, the National Party brand is 'toxic'.
