Longford Greyhound stadium has been put up for sale with a guide price of three-quarters-of a million euro.
The stadium, which closed its doors earlier this year - is described as having a "high developmental potential".
The final race at Longford Greyhound stadium took place in March, after 80 years of dogs and their owners enjoying the town centre track.
The facility closed its doors after several years of financial struggles and multiple attempts by local dog enthusiasts to try and save it.
The 7.1 acre site is currently zoned as sporting and recreational and SherryFitzgerald is handling its sale for an estimated €750,000.
Any change to its status to allow for developments such as housing or retail would need to be agreed by the local authority and Shannonside FM understands that this option would not be agreeable to many Councillors.
Shannonside FM contacted Longford County Council to ascertain if they would be interested in acquiring the track but they have not yet responded.
