A Longford Councillor has criticised a motion brought to a council meeting calling for the local authority to invite King Charles for a visit to the county.
Fine Gael Cllr Paul Ross called on the council to invite the King to Longford during his state visit next year at yesterday's council meeting.
However, only 7 councillors voted in favour of the motion with 6 voting against and 3 councillors abstained from the vote.
One of the councillors who voted against the proposal was Independent Cllr Mark Casey.

The seven councillors who voted in favour of the motion were all from Fine Gael.
Cllr Casey has criticised the party's approach:
