A local councillor is in favour of increasing litter fines in Co. Longford.
It comes as councils across the country are being urged to add a hundred euro to litter fines.
The Lord Mayor of Dublin says new environmental legislation will allow local authorities to have scope to increase on-the-spot charges from 150 to 250 euro.
