Longford businessman Louis Herterich has become involved with the global charity Mary’s Meals which helps give 1.7 million children around the world a meal every day in a place of education.
The charity was founded by Scottish man Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow who hoped that by providing chronically hungry children with one meal every school day, it will encourage an education that can lift them out of poverty in later life.
Like every other charity across the country Mary’s Meals has suffered badly because the traditional fund raising hasn’t been able to take place.
Louis Herterich says it isn’t a case that the children can do without the food so he’s putting his shoulder to the wheel to try and raise the most money possible in Longford.
Speaking on Let’s Talk today the Longford businessman revealed how a special experience in a church in Spain last year had made him determined to do all he can for Mary’s Meals.
