The movie focuses on a promising young Gaelic footballer who sustains a life-changing injury, changing his life on and off the pitch.

A locally made film has been recognised in a prestigious national award ceremony.

Lakelands, created by Longford director's Robert Higgins and Patrick McGiveney, was awarded the Best Irish Film by The Dublin Film Critics Circle.

The movie focuses on a promising young Gaelic footballer who sustains a life-changing injury, changing his life on and off the pitch.

The Granard directors formed HARP Media in 2018, building the business into a multi-discipline film production company.

The Longford pair were signed to prestigious Hollywood talent agency Berwick & Kovacik earlier this year, who represent such stars as Kenneth Branagh, Sam Elliot and Kevin Kline.
