People in Longford who have an interest in finding out more about their local streams and rivers are being invited to take part in a new course to be delivered mainly online in the coming weeks.

The free courses will focus on North and South county Longford and participants will hear how the various streams, rivers, canals, and lakes connect tighter in the county.

The course is aimed at everyone from Tidy Towns members, farmers, anglers, walkers, and anyone with an interest in water protection, conservation and management.

Dr Ken Whelan who has extensive experience in working on the waterways in Ireland with a variety of agencies says people very often don't know very much about their local river or stream.

He's been telling Anne Norris about how the courses began and what people can get from them
