Four local towns praised in IBAL survey for 2022

Nationally, Naas in Co Kildare has been crowned Ireland's cleanest town or city for the second year in a row.

Roscommon has gained in the 2022 IBAL survey while Longford has dropped in the rankings.

The Irish Businesses Against Litter campaign has shown that cleanliness levels across the country have increased by 6 percent

Roscommon has been classified as Clean to European Norms, with surveyors describing a great improvement for the town, with seven out of the ten sites surveyed getting the top litter grade.'

Main street, The Square and the Bring Banks on the Golf Links Road were specifically highlighted.

2022 saw Longford go from Cleaner than European Norms to Clean as the norm on the continent.

Main street, the library and the bring bank were all classified as heavily littered and poorly maintained.

Despite this the town received top marks in five other locations.

Elsewhere in the region, Ballinasloe and Athlone each received the classification of Clean to European Norms, with several areas in each town praised for their presentation.
