A number of local students recently attended a session of Dáil na nÓg.
Ireland's national youth parliament enables young people aged 12 to 17 to exercise their right in influencing decision-makers on the topics most important to them.
In Longford, TY student Dáithí McLoughlin was at the session, as well as 3rd year student and Comhairle member Sarah Taitt and 6th-year student Alesha Purcall.
While Monaghan pupils Jonathan Rooney and Neasa Nic Giolla Seanain were at the debate, which centred around education.
