Poultry farmers in the Shannonside region are on high alert after another confirmed case of bird flu. It was detected in a commercial turkey flock near Kells in Co. Meath. It's now the subject of an exclusion zone.
After confirmed cases in Carlow and Cork, the Department of Agriculture is imposing a mandatory order for all poultry and captive birds to be kept indoors from next Monday. Vegan and Animal Rights campaigner Gerry Boland believes the warning signs were there for everyone to see:
