Sinn Fein TDs from across the West and North West discussed the issue in the Dail Chamber last night.

Staffing issues, hospital waiting lists and the trolley crises that's currently affecting the Saolta hospital Group have been raised by local opposition TDs in the Dail.

Local Sinn Fein Deputies Martin Kenny and Claire Kerrane along with other western party members described the Saolta Hospital group, which serves part of the Shannonside Northern Sound Region, as being in crisis.

Speaking in the Dail last night, the deputies highlighted the specific challenges facing regional hospitals such as the staffing shortage at Sligo University Hospital,


According to today's INMO Trolley Watch figures, 25 people are waiting for beds in Sligo Hospital.

Speaking on behalf of the Health Minister, Minister of State in the Department of Health, Anne Rabbitte says they cannot recruit staff fast enough:


In response to the Minster, Deputy Kenny said prospective staff are being scared off by what he describes as a 'chaotic system':
