More than five hundred and sixty-seven thousand euro is on the way to 34 community and voluntary groups near the North Connacht 110kV project in Mayo and Roscommon.
The funding is the first phase of a one-point-five-three million euro Community Benefit Fund linked to the electricity infrastructure project.
Grants will support community, sustainability and biodiversity initiatives across the region.
Locally, both northwest Roscommon CDP and Ballaghaderreen Men's Shed are to benefit.
€27,723 has been awarded to enhance enhance accessibility, sustainability and community use at The Shambles CRC.
€22,500 will go towards the purchase of a laser machine at Ballaghaderreen men's shed.
While Ballaghaderreen GAA Club has received funding towards a solar PV system worth €7,855.50.
