A Longford councillor has called for an increase in the number of Gardaí on our streets after three members were hospitalised following an alleged assault in county Kildare.
Gardaí were carrying out a high-visibility patrol in Newbridge on Monday when they arrested a man.
During the course of the arrest, the man, aged in his 30s became violent and attacked three Gardaí.
The Gardaí received medical treatment at the hospital.
The arrested man has since been charged in relation to the incident and has appeared in court.
