Local food businesses continue to struggle with increased costs

It's latest figures show 188 food-led businesses have closed since July of this year.

Local food businesses are struggling to cope with the increased VAT rate and rising minimum wage, according to the Restaurant Association of Ireland. Its latest figures show 188 food-led businesses have closed since July of this year. 44 of those occurred last month.

Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show, Local Chef, Sham Hanifa says they most restaurants will be reducing costs in anyway they can coming into the new year:
