A sports-retail fashion company which has a store locally is to reissue vouchers to its customers.
Following an investigation by the Consumer and Competition Commission (CCPC), JD Sports is to return thousands of euros worth of gift card credit to customers.
Around 5,600 vouchers to Irish customers were wrongly told the gift cards expired.
The company sold these online since 2019, applying their British policy to Irish customers.
Under consumer law, all gift cards should be valid for five years after sale.
JD Sports has over 20 stores on the island of Ireland, including in Athlone.
