Local councillor announces intention to step away from politics

The politician was first elected in 2004, and is one of the few of sitting elected representatives that has had an uninterrupted tenure in local authority.

A local Fianna Fáil councillor has announced his retirement from politics. Longford Councillor PJ Reilly declared he is withdrawing from local politics next June.

The politician was first elected in 2004, and is one of the few of sitting elected representatives that has had an uninterrupted tenure in local authority. The councillor revealed that he is retiring due to health problems.
