A provider of care for children with special needs in Leitrim says the ongoing row between unions and the Department of Education is causing stress for everyone , especially parents

Last night it was confirmed that the reopening of special schools and classes has fallen through for a second time this month.

Discussions are expected to resume to resolve the row which saw the Minister lay the blame for the failure to re-open on unions - but teaching representatives claiming their safety concerns were not being fully addressed.

Ailish Winters is the manager of Childhood days in Drumshanbo which has provided after school and some respite care for children with special needs since re-opening in July.

She feels parents are really struggling with the ongoing closure:
