A Leitrim TD says the Irish government must secure more funding for farmers during its EU presidency.
Ireland holds the position for the next six months, as it rotates between member states.
It comes as negotiations on the next Common Agricultural Policy continue.
The European Commission is proposing to cut the overall fund by 20 per cent from 2028.
Local Sinn Féin TD Martin Kenny challenged Agriculture Minister Martin Heydon on the issue in the Dáil this week:
