A Leitrim TD says the Irish government must secure more funding for farmers during its EU presidency.
Ireland holds the position for the next six months, as it rotates between member states.
It comes as negotiations on the next Common Agricultural Policy continue.
The European Commission is proposing to cut the overall fund by 20 per cent from 2028.
