Well known Leitrim footballer Emlyn Mulligan has raised almost €16,000 euro for charities after he set himself a challenge to climb Knocknarea mountain in Sligo every day during November.
The Boyle based garda says with less sporting activity as a result of Covid he wanted to give himself some structured exercise during the weeks of lockdown and though he could raise some much needed funds for local charities at the same time.
The money will be divided between the Sligo Cancer Support Centre and the garda Little Blue Heroes Foundation which helps children with serious illness.
Emlyn says he was delighted to see his fundraising target exceeded by the generosity and support of people from across the region.
