A county Galway centre for people with disabilities has received a largely positive report from the health watchdog.
An announced inspection took place in March of this year, the details of which have been published today.
Shiven Services is located close to the Roscommon border.
It can provide a mix of full-time residential and respite services to a maximum of seven patients of mixed gender who are over 18 and have varying levels of intellectual disability.
HIQA praised the standard of care.
Inspectors found residents were receiving high-quality, person-centred care in a safe, well-managed environment, with effective governance and strong support from staff.
The report says residents were respected, had real choice in their daily lives and were supported to achieve personal goals.
These included taking part in sports, concerts, theatre trips, holidays abroad and other community activities.
Inspectors also found the centre was clean, welcoming and designed to meet residents' individual needs.
Staff were found to be appropriately trained.
Feedback from families was also positive, with one describing the service as "a home away from home."
The inspection did identify one area requiring improvement.
HIQA found aspects of medicines management needed tighter oversight, including clearer documentation and more accurate guidance for staff identifying medicines.
However, inspectors said these issues had not resulted in any medication-related incidents and posed no medium or high risk to residents.
