Crime statistics for the Shannonside region have revealed a large increase in the number of drink driving offences compared with the same time last year.
Figures published by the Central Statistics Office have shown a 110 per cent and 37.5 per cent rise in the Sligo-Leitrim and Roscommon-Longford Garda Divisions respectively.
61 occurred in Sligo-Leitrim and in Roscommon, there were 55.

The number of burglaries locally has decreased, however.
24 took place in Sligo-Leitrim in quarter two of this year, down from 32.
While 21 in Roscommon-Longford was a marked improvements on 2024's figure of 48.
