Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan has published a request for tender for the provision of an electronic monitoring service provider.

Plans to introduce electronic tagging of criminals are progressing.
Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan has published a request for tender for the provision of an electronic monitoring service provider.

It's for a 12-month pilot phase for 50 electronic tags, which will focus on prisoners on temporary release nationally and those granted bail within designated areas.
Fianna Fáil's Justice Spokesperson, Tom Brabazon says it's a welcome move:
