Just under 1,000 marriages registered in the region last year

They are some of the 19,898 marriages in 2025 recorded by the Central Statistics Office.

Just under 1,000 marriages were registered in the Shannonside region last year. They are some of the 19,898 marriages in 2025 recorded by the Central Statistics Office. Locally, 482 marriages of the opposite sex were registered. 196 took place in county Roscommon with 170 in Leitrim and in Longford, there were 116.

In terms of same-sex marriages, both Roscommon and Leitrim registered the same total of 12 with 2 in Longford. The average age for brides and grooms in opposite sex marriages was 36.1 years for brides and 38 years for grooms in 2025. Meanwhile, the average age of males in same-sex marriages was 40.6 years, while the average age of females in same-sex marriages was 38.1 years.
