A Leitrim councillor is raising questions as to why the county still has no secondary school with Deis status.
Sinn Féin councillor Cormac Flynn is bringing a motion to next week's Leitrim County Council meeting on the issue.
He says it defies logic that 43 per cent of primary schools in the county have Deis status yet, at post-primary level, no school is recognised.
Cllr Flynn, who is also the principal of Mohill Community College, says students in Leitrim are currently being disenfranchised by the lack of Deis status in secondary schools:
