Ireland has not yet reached the peak of the current wave of Covid-19, according to a member of NPHET.
Yesterday, the group did not recommend any changes to close contact rules or the introduction of new restrictions.
It comes after 23,817 new cases were reported yesterday, the highest daily figures since the pandemic began.

But NPHET member and Covid-19 advisor for the ICGP Dr Mary Favier says further restrictions aren't needed as Omicron is causing fewer hospitalisations:
