The National Public Health Emergency Team will meet this morning to analyse the spread of Covid-19 across the country.

Health officials are monitoring Monaghan, Roscommon, Cork and Galway, but the Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn says it is close to becoming 'a national issue'.

A senior HSE doctor in the Shannonside region says she is very concerned about an increase of cases in north Roscommon

No county breakdown was available for Roscommon at Wednesday night's briefing after the 15 cases were added to the county's total to bring it to 445 overall Leitrim's figures are unchanged at 116

Latest HSE figures reveal an extra seven cases of Covid-19 were recorded in Longford on Wednesday.

There is growing concern of the rise in the spread of the virus among young people in the country at present and Dr Breda Smyth, the director of public health in the west of Ireland, has made a special appeal to young people in the region.
