Planning was granted late last week with 20 conditions attached.

Micheál Frain from An Bealach Nua, says the centre will guarantee between 150 and 200 new jobs as well as knock on services from the development.

Speaking to Shannonside FM news, he says that the hub is just the start of the plans for the town and wider region:

"These are sustainable jobs for the future of this region. We are talking about 150-200 jobs in this. This is only the start of it in the hub/studio. There are other additional jobs and follow-ons that will be coming from it so the investment in this country goes to the bigger cities and that. We can't do an awful lot about that but what we can do is put our case forward. We have put this case to agencies and that and indeed a lot of them have said come back and talk to us when you've got your planning. So, now that we have our planning permission, we're going back talking to everybody".
