A high-temperature warning for the entire Shannonside region takes effect today.
The yellow alert for Roscommon, Longford, Leitrim and several other counties starts at 12 noon and runs until Friday at 6am.
Met Éireann says it will be over 27C during the day and over 15C at night.

It says this could lead to heat stress, difficult sleeping conditions, forest fires, drought and water safety issues.
