There are calls for a direct bus route to be reintroduced between Sligo and Athlone.
It would serve several local towns, including Boyle, Carrick-on-Shannon, Strokestown, Roscommon town and Knockcroghery.
Roscommon County Council is putting together a Local Transport Plan for Boyle.
A draft version was published in April and the council asked for feedback from the public, and they got 11 submissions.
They'll be discussed by local councillors at their meeting in Boyle this morning.
In his submission, Neil McGarry calls for a direct bus service to be reintroduced between Sligo and Athlone, which he says was scrapped around 17 years ago.
He says Sligo and Athlone are large population centres, with people going there every day to work and study.
He says the bus route could be done in two and a half hours, leaving Sligo and going through Ballisodare, Collooney, Boyle, Carrick-on-Shannon, Elphin, Strokestown, Roscommon town and Knockcroghery before arriving in Athlone.
Under his proposal, there would be several buses a day, in both directions.
Meanwhile, the Seanad has heard renewed calls for the road between Athlone and Sligo to be upgraded.
Senator Gareth Scahill called for Roscommon County Council to include this in a submission to the regional spatial and economic strategy:
