Heartbreak in Roscommon as flood waters force families from homes

OPW Minister Kieran O'Donnell visited the area last week as all options are now being explored to save nearby homes and farms.

Residents in Curraghboy have pleaded with the Government to take immediate action to save their homes from rising flood water.

Two families have already been forced to evacuate after flooding from Lough Funshinagh surged towards the south Roscommon village.

Ellie McLaughlin was forced to flee with her three children last week following days of fighting to keep the water from their door.

Bishop of Elphin Kevin Doran visited the flood-hit area over the weekend.

He is calling for immediate action to resolve the issue:
