Its after an increase in the number of newborns who suffered subgaleal hemorrhage after their births.

A series of head injuries recorded in babies born at a Galway hospital are being investigated.

Its after an increase in the number of newborns who suffered subgaleal hemorrhage (pron: sub-gael-ee-al) after their births at University Hospital Galway last year.

The Irish Independent says external experts have been brought in to examine the possible causes, but says in all cases the babies were well when they were discharged from hospital.

The Saolta University Healthcare Group which runs the hospital hasn't revealed how many babies were diagnosed with the condition which can lead to development delays, seizures and in severe cases, death.
