Gardaí renew appeal over death of Leitrim man in fatal assault

Gardaí have issued a renewed appeal for witnesses to a fatal assault of a Leitrim man in Mayo.

Peter McDermott, aged in his 60s, died in hospital after being attacked on High Street in Westport in the early hours of Saturday 9th September.

A man in his 20s was arrested and later released without charge, with a file being prepared for the DPP.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of High Street between 1am and 2am on Saturday 9th - including those with camera footage - to come forward.
