Gardaí say their appeal continues for anyone with information on the death of Ann Lovett in 1984 to come forward. The 15-year-old schoolgirl died 40 years ago today, hours after she and her stillborn baby were found lying on the ground at a grotto in Granard, County Longford. Her death led to national outcry about the treatment of teenage and unmarried mothers, and helped pave the way for social change.
