Funding approved for the continuation of the WestDoc service in South Roscommon-East Galway will take effect from January 16th.
The news has been confirmed by local representatives Denis Naughten and Councillor Dr Evelyn Francis Parsons.
Concern was raised over the future of the out of hours GP service in October last year due to a number of retirements and excessive work hours

However following a number of meetings late last year an additional €426,000 in funding was secured.
This funding has now been received and can immediately be made available to support local GP services
