Friends of the Irish Environment were successful in 2022 in having the Lough Funshinagh emergency flood works stopped.

Roscommon County Council confirmed hydro-ecological field studies are underway to identify a long-term solution but wouldn't be completed until later this year.

An Bord Pleanála rejected an application for the Shannon LNG, saying it's 'against Government policy'.

The court has adjourned a decision on whether the works can restart in the meantime until the end of this month.

FIE will apply for a Judicial Review over current works taking place.

The Council announced earlier this month that it was commencing new works to drain water away from the turlough.
