Four local charities to benefit from special transport funding

Great news for charities that provide a vital service in the region.

Four local charities in the Shannonside region are set to receive significant funding to improve their transport for rural areas.

Minister Heather Humphreys has announced €747,000 to fund 14 vehicles for community-based organisations providing vital services.

In Roscommon, the Brothers of Charity is to receive almost €64,000 for the Purchase of Wheelchair Accessible Bus.

The Irish Wheelchair Association, based in Kenagh in Longford, is also set to receive over €55,000 for a bus with adaption.

The East Galway and Midlands Cancer Support in Ballinasloe is also receiving €42,000 funding as well as Ability West Mountbellew which will benefit from €54,000.

Under the 2021 CLÁR programme, the funding will support organisations that provide free transport for cancer patients so that they can attend medical appointments.
