The homes were hit with several thousand litres of water last night.

Thousands of euro worth of damage has been caused to roads and homes in the wider Rooskey area after flash flooding last night.

Heavy downpours of rain resulted in rivers of rainwater ripping up tarmac and entering people's homes in Lavagh and Kilgarve.

Approximately two hours of heavy rain resulted in water coming downhill with Roscommon County Council delivering sandbags to people's homes in effort to keep out floodwaters.
