The number of fixed charge notices issued by Gardaí locally for speeding while driving has increased.
Figures have been published on the official Garda website.
Driving offences in Ireland are set out in the Road Traffic Acts 1961.
Penalties range from fixed charges, which are fines that you must pay, to imprisonment for the most serious offences.
If a motorist is sent a fixed charge notice and fails to pay the charge on time, they will be summoned to appear in court.
From January to March this year, 6,613 fixed charge notices were issued across the Sligo-Leitrim, Roscommon-Longford and Cavan-Monaghan Garda divisions.
3,639 were issued in Roscommon-Longford, 2,376 in Cavan-Monaghan and in Sligo-Leitrim there were 598 issued.
This year's figure is a 3.4 per cent increase on the first 3 months of 2025.
