Almost 60 businesses in the Shannonside region closed down last year.
The new figures have been released by Enterprise Minister Peter Burke.
Minister Burke provided these statistics in response to a question from Sinn Féin TD Shónagh Ní Raghallaigh.
Minister Burke says the figures he's providing relate to companies registered with the Companies Registration Office.
He says they don't include businesses operating as sole traders or unincorporated entities.
The figures he did provide show 18 firms in Leitrim ceased trading last year, along with 19 in Longford and 19 in Roscommon.
Minister Burke says, nationally, the number of firms ceasing to trade is decreasing.
He says there were 3,111 in the first three months of last year - but only 1,725 in the same period this year, a drop of 45 per cent.
