The duration of the road closure will depend on how long the water level in the lake remains close to or above the level of the public road, with the closure expected to last for at least a number of weeks.

Families facing rising flood waters at Lough Funshinagh have vowed to stay in their homes despite warnings from Roscommon County Council. The waters from the infamous turlough are at their highest recorded level, with the local authority closing the L-2005 at Ballagh due to overtopping. The duration of the road closure will depend on how long the water level in the lake remains close to or above the level of the public road, with the closure expected to last for at least a number of weeks.

Roscommon County Council have advised two families bordering the lake to vacate their homes in the interest of personal safety. The Council along with the OPW have both stated they remain working toward a long term solution to alleviate the flooding, and drain the Lough. Pariac Beatty lives along the lake and faces daily challenges from the flood waters. Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound, the local farmer has vowed to stay in his home:
