Ex-Environment Minister unhappy with extra costs linked to new Climate Bill

Denis Naughten says there a number of elements of the bill that he is unhappy with

People across the Shannonside Northern Sound region may be forced to adopt new greener heat sources and home improvements if the Climate Bill is passed.

That's according to Roscommon Galway TD Denis Naughten who claims the Bill has no clear details on what precise actions will be proposed, they will only be outlined in the coming months.

Rural TDs heckled Minister Eamon Ryan as he introduced the Bill in the Dail yesterday with particular concern over its impact on the beef sector.

Deputy Naughten says if this is passed it gives the Minister or any government the power to introduce measures without any amendments or the approval of the Dail.

He says that a number of options could be put forward in the future, people could be forced into retrofitting their homes for example:
