Eirgrid spokesperson David Martin says they're looking forward to starting work next years on the new power substation at Lanesboro.
The company was granted planning permission in recent weeks to go ahead with the new project ton lands beside the power station in the town.
The new substation will involve a spend of millions of euro and will mean state of the art electricity supply and distribution for the immediate area, as well as further afield.

Eirgrid has also announced in recent days that they are donating €25,000 towards a community project to build an amphitheatre in the area.
David Martin from the company says they're delighted to help with the amphitheatre project, but the new substation will also bring major benefits for the area.
