It's hoped that a design for flood defence works in Carrick-on-Shannon will available for the public to view by the autumn of 2021.

Leitrim's County town was affected by significant flooding in February of 2020 - after heavy downpours caused issues at various points along the Shannon.

Water had to be pumped along the N4 by the side of the river with many businesses anxious that future flooding events could cause further issues for the town.

A design team has been assessing hydrology and a public consultation was held during Covid restrictions.

Deputy CE and Director of services Joseph Gilhoooley thinks significant progress on CFram plans will be made in the coming 12 months
