The Derryadd Windfarm Group has been at loggerheads with Bord Na Mona for years now over plans to build huge turbines on disused bogland near Lanesboro

The Chairman of the 'No To Derryadd Windfarm Group' says he would like Bord Na Mona to work in partnership with local communities instead of the tactics they use at present.

Niall Dennigan was commenting as An Bord Pleanala is reported to have withdrawn its appeal to a High Court decision which ruled against permission for a 24 turbine wind farm on disused bog land outside Lanesboro.

Niall Dennigan says that while they still don't know exactly what is happening with the Bord Na Mona application, they would prefer to be working with the agency rather than butting heads with them.

The opposition group Chairman says that while renewable and clean energy is badly needed, it can't be at the expense of nature and they'd like to be working with Bord Na Mona, instead of against them.
