The report was compiled by weare.ie and breaks down the number of websites registered with a .ie name last year. Roscommon had the most amount of websites registered in the region at 369, however this represents a decrease on the 2021 figure of 526. 252 websites were registered with a .IE name last year in Longford, a 44% decrease on 2021 While 217 were registered in Leitrim, a decrease from 270 in 2021, but a 4% increase on the 2019 pre-pandemic figure of 207. Dublin had the most amount of .IE websites registered at over 17,500. Business and Industrial websites remain the most popular nationwide, making up 17% of all .ie sites.
One of the shortest website names registered is just 1 letter long, w.ie.
Nationally, 44,946 sites were registered last year, a 22% drop on 2021.
